Several residents have expressed concerns over reports that Holmden Avenue in Wigston will become a through road between Western Avenue and Station Road as a result of the housing development off Holmden Avenue.

I contacted the Planning Officers at Oadby and Wigston Borough Council and have received confirmation that Holmden Avenue will remain a no-through road in line with planning permission.

I hope that this re-assures local residents. However, if you see that this is not actually happening, please get in touch with me.

Further detail from the Planning Officers:

Cllr. Helen Loydall

Planning permission 12/00313/FUL was issued on the 14th of June 2013 and includes a condition number 24 which reads:

"The proposed bollards (and landscape area) between the two internal access roads (which prevent through traffic between Holmden Avenue and Station Road) shall be provided prior to the first occupation of any building on the site and shall be maintained as such for the life of the development unless planning permission has been first granted for their removal from the Local Planning Authority"

(The Council) have not received any request from the developers to remove or set aside that condition of the planning permission. If (The Council) were ever to received such a request then we would automatically be consulting with effected local residents before making any decision on such a request.
